“When organizing meal trains for victims and/or family members, it is important to keep addresses private and off the Internet for public consumption for the sake of the victim bases’ safety. In Parkland, we found multiple times that people would sign up to “help” for meal trains with an ulterior motive to gain the victims’ families and survivors’ addresses for their own personal gain. To avoid this, we had multiple volunteers set up on a nightly basis to truly help on the meal train. We had a volunteer pick up from the restaurant, then hand the food off to another person Authorized by the families to have the home address and deliver the food to the location. This maintains privacy.” This is a best practice recommended by Victims First.
